The people behind the pages

We are artists, quilters, caregivers, wordsmiths, reporters, runners, and sometimes, rocket scientists. Our small team wears many hats throughout the day, but everyone at Machine Quilting Unlimited is laser-focused on bringing you our best in every issue of MQU.

Vicki and her husband Dick love to travel—often with their Tortoise Shell Calico cat Betty tagging along—and enjoy spending time with their daughter, son-in-law and three grandsons.

When not working on the magazine, Kit can be found walking her dogs at the lake, working in her studio, trying out new techniques with her friends or painting fabric on the driveway. Lately she has become involved in quilt photography, both for herself and for other members of the local quilt community. You can see her work at www.kitsquilts.norova.com.

As Editor, Kit overseas the production and editorial aspects of the magazine, as well as managing day-to-day operations, often organizing a myriad of projects at once. Contact Kit for article queries and submissions at kit@meanderpublishing.com or 1.800.910.1925  EXT 3.

Kathy Patterson

After a long career in social services and a mid-life move from Pennsylvania to Colorado, Kathy was thrilled to start a new chapter when she landed a job in quilt publishing in 2004. She spent 12 years on the editorial staff of a major industry magazine and helped write and/or edit over 2000 quilt patterns during that time. She’s now back in her home town, enjoying family time and growing her home-based business, Hill Street Quilts. Her editing and writing skills are being put to good use at Machine Quilting Unlimited, and her current quilt obsessions include vintage Pennsylvania German quilts, miniature quilts of all styles, and pictorial quilts that approach photographic clarity.

Jonathan Miller of JLM Graphics handles our graphics and layout duties. Jonathan has an extensive print production background. Jonathan and his wife, Deb, are avid runners, and love to explore their home state of New Hampshire and neighboring Maine on foot or bike. Jonathan runs and races distances from 5k to 50 miles on roads, trails and mountains, and is certified as a running coach. He is currently working on his Personal Trainer certification.
