ABOUT MODERN QUILTS UNLIMITED MAGAZINE
Meet the fresh new face of modern quilting!

How do you define modern quilting? Most people list characteristics of bold, bright colors, high contrast elements, a graphic or minimalist look, and an emphasis on negative space. Modern techniques may include improvisational piecing, alternative grid work, or simply a new ‘twist’ on traditional designs.

We’re exploring all these elements and more in Modern Quilts Unlimited magazine. Each issue includes original patterns, projects, in-depth interviews and quiltmaking instruction—everything you need to become a better quiltmaker and designer!

Modern Quilts Unlimited is published four times a year, and is available in print and digital editions.

Solitaire by Vicki Ruebel. Instructions appear in Issue #21 of Modern Quilts Unlimited.

Designer Missy Shepler

Missy Shepler is an illustrator, author, and designer with a home-based studio in central Illinois.  She learned to sew a long time ago, by pushing a big plastic needle threaded with thick yarn through pre-punched sewing cards, and hasn’t stopped stitching since. Missy has co-authored two books, contributed quilt designs and sewing patterns to many publications, and happily created more how-to illustrations than she can count.
