We give you the rundown on Quilt Con 2018 in Pasadena, CA!

We at Modern Quilts Unlimited were very excited to be not just sponsoring this year’s Quilt Con in Pasadena, CA, but we were also exhibiting! Once our booth was set up, we had a grand time meeting all of you that came out to the show. We were honored to have quilts from our contributors to hang in our booth. The great part is that you can learn about each of these in our magazine. We had a raffle and some goodies to give away too.
Laurie Baker, our editor, said, “QuiltCon has it’s own excitement and vibe that’s unlike any other show. It’s just different at QuiltCon. People are happy to be there but they seem to be more thoughtful about the exhibits as well as their purchases. I hear people talking about the quilts as I’m going through the exhibit, in more of an analytical rather than aesthetic sense.”
This year, interpretations of traditional blocks were a big theme. In fact, the winner of the show’s Best In Show award was a modern take on a flying geese block. There were also interpretations of lots of different star blocks, drunkard’s path, log cabins, and churn dash blocks. Keep an eye out for more of our trends that we spotted at QuiltCon in an upcoming blog post.

Of course, our favorite part of the show is to connect with our friends! We had a wonderful time having our contributors appear in our booth, as well as meet new designers and see their wonderful quilts. QuiltCon will be moving to Nashville, TN next year and we can’t wait to see what exciting things happen there.
